Adaption’s Driver App for drivers and planners
Recognizable problem
Trip execution becomes fragmented once drivers are on the road
As a planner, you know the situation: you call a driver for a status update, wait for feedback that sometimes arrives too late, while the next trip is already waiting. In transport companies handling dozens of trips per day, this creates a constant flow of interruptions. Planning continues to move forward, but visibility does not keep up.
Without digital trip information, you are always one step behind reality. You only learn about a delayed delivery when the customer calls, not when there is still time to intervene. This lack of up-to-date transport status makes proactive action impossible and increases the risk of errors during trip execution. A mobile solution that provides real-time visibility is no longer a luxury but an operational necessity.
Adaption’s logistics solution
The driver app within the TMS system: digital trip information directly from the cab
Adaption’s transport driver app integrates seamlessly with the Transport Management System. Through a simple interface, the driver registers every step of the trip execution, and the planner immediately sees these updates in the Trip planboard. This enables more efficient communication between planner and driver without the need for phone calls or manual tracking of what happens on the road.
The 6 benefits of the driver app with Adaption TMS software
1. Real-time visibility into trip status
As soon as a driver registers an arrival or departure, the update instantly appears in the planboard. As a planner, you no longer need to call for a status update; the current transport status is visible in the system at any time for every active trip.
2. Reduced administrative burden for the driver
The mobile app is designed for use on the road: a single button press is enough for each status update. The driver only sees their own trips and the next scheduled trip, preventing confusion about what is expected and allowing them to fully focus on their work.
3. Direct communication through pop-up messages
As a planner, you can send pop-up messages directly to the transport driver’s mobile application. Route changes, additional instructions, or urgent notifications are immediately visible on the screen, without the driver needing to call or open a separate app.
4. Automatic trip data collection
Every time the driver updates their status, the information is automatically stored as trip data. Arrival times, departure times, and the completion of each trip are linked to orders and customers, creating a reliable foundation for reporting and KPI analysis.
5. Seamless TMS integration with the Trip planboard
The application is fully integrated with Adaption’s Tripplanboard. Trips created in the TMS automatically appear in the assigned driver’s app. Once a trip is completed, the next scheduled trip becomes immediately visible without searching or calling.
6. No extra hardware required: works on any existing smartphone
The application runs on any mobile device the driver already carries. There is no need to purchase expensive onboard computers, dedicated screens, or additional equipment. This makes the app immediately deployable across your entire fleet, regardless of the device brand or model.
Seamlessly integrates with your current IT landscape
Adaption integrates seamlessly with your existing IT landscape and connects with the systems you already use. From ERP systems and webshops to carriers and accounting packages, all data flows come together in one logical whole. Thanks to open APIs, virtually any integration is possible. If your system is not listed, we will make it fit.

How does the mobile application for drivers work in practice?
Step 1: Create trip planning in the Tripplanboard
The planner creates a trip in the Tripplanboard by linking one or more orders to a trip. Once the planning is completed, the assigned driver automatically receives a notification in the app.
Step 2: Driver opens the app and views the trip
The driver opens the application and immediately has access to all necessary information: the delivery address, the cargo, and any planner notes. The driver only sees their own next trip, preventing confusion about which assignment must be carried out.
Step 3: Report arrival at location
Upon arrival, the driver presses “Arrived.” This action immediately registers the arrival time for the related order and is instantly visible to the planner in the Trip planboard.
Step 4: Complete delivery via “Set to ready”
After unloading, the driver uses the “Set to ready” button to indicate readiness for departure. The trip end time is automatically recorded and the order is marked as completed in the system.
Step 5: The next trip automatically appears on screen
As soon as the trip is completed, the app immediately displays the next scheduled trip. The driver does not need to scroll, call, or search; the process continues seamlessly to the next assignment.
Trip data as the foundation for better planning decisions
Every status update a driver makes in the mobile app is automatically stored and linked to the relevant order, customer, and trip. Over time, this creates a reliable dataset that helps identify structural patterns in trip execution. Think of delivery locations with consistently long waiting times, routes that systematically take more time than planned, or discrepancies between planned and actual driving times.
These insights are directly available in reports and KPI dashboards within Adaption’s TMS. You can make better planning decisions based on actual trip data, without requiring additional registration work. The data is automatically recorded through the transport app rather than manually entered afterward.
Practical example: A logistics manager discovers through trip data that one specific industrial area causes an average of 25 minutes of additional waiting time compared to similar locations. Based on this analysis, he structurally adjusts the planned driving time for that route, immediately improving planning quality for that customer route and reducing the number of late arrivals.
Trip data as the foundation for better planning decisions
Adaption’s mobile solution for transport execution is particularly valuable for transport companies working with multiple drivers and processing a large number of trips every day. As trip volume increases, manual communication increasingly becomes a bottleneck. A driver app with direct TMS integration solves this structurally.
The application is also suitable for organizations working with charter drivers or flexible staffing. Digital trip information remains visible in the system per driver and per trip, regardless of who executes the trip. Planners can instantly see which trips are active, completed, or delayed without relying on phone updates.
Companies already using Adaption’s TMS can integrate the driver app without a separate implementation project. The integration is a standard part of our logistics software solution (Logistics Cloud Suite), allowing you to get started immediately once drivers install the app on their devices.

Frequently asked questions about the driver app
A Driver app for transport companies is a mobile application that allows drivers to receive trip information and send status updates back to the planning department. The app supports trip execution activities such as reporting arrivals, communicating departures, and making stop progress visible. In Adaption, this information is directly linked to the TMS and the Trip planboard.
A Driver app helps provide real-time trip status because drivers register status moments directly during the trip. This allows planners to quickly see whether transport is on schedule, delayed, or ready for the next assignment. It reduces phone traffic and makes current transport status more useful in daily planning.
A driver app is focused on trip execution and contains information about assignments, addresses, schedules, and statuses. A separate communication app mainly supports messaging but does not always link that information to trips and orders. With Adaption, communication between planner and driver becomes part of the TMS, ensuring messages and status updates remain operationally useful.
A TMS integration ensures that trip information from planning automatically becomes available in the mobile driver app. Status updates are then returned to the same environment planners use. This prevents duplicate data entry and keeps trip data linked to orders, customers, and transport planning.
Yes, a driver app is especially valuable when working with charter or external drivers. Every driver receives the same digital trip information and uses the same method to report arrivals, departures, and trip completion. The planner maintains centralized visibility, even when not all drivers are directly employed.
A truck driver sees the trips assigned to them, including relevant information such as destination, sequence, time window, and instructions. The mobile application displays information as clearly and specifically as possible so that the driver does not need to navigate through unnecessary details during execution. Status actions are directly linked to the correct trip.
A transport driver app supports the planner by providing live trip information directly from operations. Planners need to make fewer calls for updates and can respond more quickly when trips are delayed or completed earlier than expected. The app reduces the distance between the office and the road for both planner and driver.
During trip execution, data such as arrival time, departure time, completion status, and trip status can be recorded. This trip data supports reporting, customer inquiries, and analysis of waiting times or deviations. Thanks to the TMS integration, the information remains useful for both planning and management.
