About Royal FloraHolland
Our client Royal FloraHolland is a cooperative of growers of cut flowers and/or plants and the largest flower auction in the world. In 2021, Royal FloraHolland traded 11.7 billion flowers and plants. They are transported worldwide via their reusable load carriers. The Logistics Resources department ensures that these CC containers, casks, and trolleys move to the correct locations.
✓ 15,000 full loads annually
✓ Heavy peak load around public holidays, such as Mother’s Day, Easter, and Christmas
✓ Provided by about 30 carriers
✓ Considerable transportation costs per year, which is a significant cost item
“The TMS, and the supplied links to the Datawarehouse and Pool Management, ensure that transports have a higher utilization rate. In addition, we now have complete insight into costs and differences in costs per supplier. Also, the costs per supplier have relatively decreased.”

Our solution
Royal FloraHolland uses the Transport Management module of the Adaption Logistics Cloud Suite to support the processes above. Overall, the following steps are supported:
- After approval or adjustment by the planners, the TMS automatically creates orders
- Based on the order, the TMS selects the most suitable carrier based on price, capacity, and fair distribution across the pool of carriers
- Transport status is tracked: approved, planned, in progress, picked up, and delivered
- Planners, carriers, and RFH locations can track the status of shipments.
The carrier has insight into the transports via the portal and can accept or reject them - Location employees scan transport orders upon issue and collection, updating the transport status and stocks in the WMS
- The TMS can indicate per period via self-billing to the carrier what may be charged
- The invoice goes to SAP’s financial system
- The transports also go to the data warehouse
Choosing Adaption
To continue its growth, Rail Bridge Cargo started looking for a system that supports this. They chose Adaption’s FMS, which provides them with the above benefits, among other things. The Adaption FMS thus offers control over the activities, saving costs and increasing customer satisfaction, quality, and efficiency. In addition, Adaption keeps an eye on the ever-changing logistics market and responds by quickly implementing improvements and expansions through frequent releases.
Adaption is proud to contribute to the success of Rail Bridge Cargo!
“During the demos, it became clear that Adaption was very familiar with the processes at RFH. That, but also the way of working, links, and collaborations are factors that, among others, contributed to our choices.”
