Customer portal software for centralized logistics communication
Customers, suppliers and carriers want quick access to inventory, orders, shipments and documents. When this information is mainly shared by email and phone, it takes a lot of time and communication can easily become fragmented.
What is customer portal software?
Customer portal software is a secure online environment in which customers can access data and functionalities that are relevant to them. In logistics, this includes inventory levels, order statuses, shipments, invoices and documents.
Adaption’s logistics solution
Customer portal for secure data exchange
With Adaption’s customer portal software, external parties receive secure access to the data and functionalities that are relevant to them. They can view information, share documents and, depending on the configuration, enter logistics assignments themselves.
The portal is directly connected to Adaption’s logistics software, the Logistics Cloud Suite. Data from the WMS, TMS and Freight Forwarding System is therefore made available without duplicate data entry. Through user roles and access rights, the logistics service provider determines which information each customer, supplier or location is allowed to view and edit.
The benefits of Adaption’s logistics portal
1. Share real-time information
Customers and suppliers have access to up-to-date data 24 hours a day. As soon as an order, inventory position or shipment is updated in Adaption, the new information can also become visible in the portal.
2. Fewer emails and phone calls
Users can look up much of the information themselves. Employees therefore spend less time manually sending order statuses, inventory lists, invoices and documents.
3. Less duplicate data entry
Customers and suppliers can enter data directly into the portal. This information is linked to the relevant logistics process, so employees do not have to enter the same data again.
4. Documents linked to the correct file
Transport documents, customs documents, invoices, photos, order confirmations and product sheets can be exchanged centrally and linked to the correct file.
5. Secure access per user
User roles and access rights determine which information a person is allowed to view or edit. Permissions can be configured based on the customer, supplier, role or location, among other criteria.
“Adaption stood out because of their approach: personal contact, fast response and the ability to translate our use cases directly into working solutions.”
Jeroen de Vries, ICT Manager at Dekker Transport & Tank Storage
How does the customer and supplier portal work?
1. Users receive secure access
The customer, supplier or logistics partner receives their own account. Based on the user profile, you can determine which data and functionalities are available.
2. Information is made available from Adaption
The portal retrieves the relevant data from the Logistics Cloud Suite. This means the user works with the same information as the employees within the logistics operation. This can include inventory data from the WMS, transport statuses from the TMS or file information from the Freight Forwarding System.
3. The user views or enters information
A customer can, for example, place an order, track a shipment or upload a document. A supplier can add information, submit a status update or respond to a request. The available options are configured according to the organization’s processes and agreements.
4. Messages and documents remain centrally stored
Communication through the portal is linked to the relevant file or assignment. This allows employees to retrieve what was discussed and which files were exchanged afterwards.
5. Relevant parties receive a notification
It can be configured in advance which events trigger a notification. A customer may, for example, receive a message when goods have been received. The logistics service provider can receive a notification as soon as a customer enters a new order. This keeps everyone informed without having to continuously check the status themselves.
One portal for customers, suppliers and logistics partners
The Adaption portal supports communication with different parties throughout the logistics chain.
Customer portal
Customers gain insight into their logistics processes and, depending on the configuration, can independently view inventory, track orders and shipments, enter assignments, announce transports and access documents.
They can also send and receive messages. This creates a self-service customer portal in which customers can independently find and provide information.
Supplier portal
Suppliers, carriers and other operational partners receive access to the assignments and information they need to perform their work.
They can, for example, view transport information, upload documents, add data, submit a status update or respond to a request. This allows collaboration to take place through one controlled communication channel.
Integrated with WMS, TMS and Freight Forwarding
The customer and supplier portal is available within the main components of the Logistics Cloud Suite. Because all components operate on the same platform, information remains linked to the original logistics process.
Warehouse Management
Share inventory levels, inventory movements, inbound orders, outbound orders and warehouse documents with customers.
Transport Management
Give customers and carriers insight into transport assignments, planning, execution and current shipment statuses.
Freight Forwarding
Share files, documents, assignments and status information with customers and other parties within international logistics chains.
Seamlessly integrates with your current IT landscape
Adaption integrates seamlessly with your existing IT landscape and connects with the systems you already use. From ERP systems and webshops to carriers and accounting packages, all data flows come together in one logical whole. Thanks to open APIs, virtually any integration is possible. If your system is not listed, we will make it fit.

Multiple branches in one location portal
Organizations with multiple locations can give users access to one or more sites. A local user only sees data for their own branch, while a central user can view information across all locations.
This allows each branch to maintain an overview of its own orders and inventory without losing the overall central view.
Which organizations is a logistics customer portal suitable for?
The customer and supplier portal is suitable for organizations that regularly exchange logistics information with external parties, including:
- Logistics service providers and 3PL organizations
- Transport companies and carriers
- Freight forwarders and forwarding companies
- Warehouses and distribution centres
- Manufacturers and shippers
- Bulk operators and tank storage companies
The functionality is particularly relevant when customers or suppliers exchange large numbers of orders, statuses and documents and need a central, secure environment.
