7 & 8 November Adaption was attending the ICT & Logistics in the Jaarbeurs in Utrecht. This year the main theme was “Connected Logistics”. A subject Adaption deals with every day and offers various solutions for.
How “Connected” is your organisation?
Every switch in the chain contributes to an efficient and effective flow of goods, every switch adds value. To be able to realize this, it is important that all parties of the logistics chain collaborate and share data. At our stand we discussed the subject “Connected Logistics” with the visitors of ICT & Logistics.
Highlighted: practical case
“With which parties should I share data and how does data sharing works?” These were questions asked by a shipper who visited our stand. Our advice for shippers is to take the role of chain director. Logistics does not always have the highest priority by shippers but can be a crucial part of the success of an organisation. Fast delivery for low cost can be a success factor, creating distinctive character. It can be profitable for shippers to work efficient with dock planning. In this specific case of this shipper, trucks had to wait an hour before they could load the goods. By optimising the outbound logistics process by inserting dock planning, trucks can be loaded much faster. As result trucks will have to wait less long for the dock, which means that they can deliver faster and reduce the costs of transport. But how can this be realised by sharing data? This can easily be realised by using web portals for example. The shipper can create different slots. Transporters can reserve slots through the portal where they pick up the cargo. The shipper knows exactly which carries comes to pick up the cargo and prevents peak pressure.
New this year: Supply Chain Arena
New this year was the Supply Chain Arena, specially made for everything that has something to do with supply chain management and S&OP. Nowadays the interest in this subject is increased, more and more organisations are seeing the importance of structured supply chain management solutions for logistics organisations. Adaption is already active within this part. Last year Adaption implemented the Supply Control Tower for client Interchains. The Supply Chain Tower gives an optimal overview of the logistics chain, incidents will be signalised early, so action can be taken right away. By using customer and supplier web portals all links in the chain can communicate with each other in a simple manner. For example the best carrier can be chosen based on price and rating. Read more about the advantages of the Supply Chain Control Tower.
Big data accessible and applicable
Another hot topic this year was Big Data. A solution from the Logistics Cloud Suite where Big Data has a prominent role is Maintenance & Repair. We recently implemented M&R at our client HOYER. HOYER replaced their old equipment system for our Big Data driven Maintenance & Repair software module. The software makes sure that HOYER is able to Big Data to analyse and predict the maintenance of containers. HOYER has an enormous amount of data which makes it possible to make accurate analyses. This module makes Big Data accessible and applicable.
Logistics Sales & Operations Planning
Sales & Operations Planning was also a hot topic at ICT & Logistics. Adaption makes it possible for organisations to make quotations in less time and with more margin. By using or total renewed Quotator organisations are able to work in a fast and efficient way.
